If I had to pick my wedding colors right now, they would be navy blue and seersucker. And yes, I realize seersucker is not a color, but a type of fabric. And no, I am not engaged, nor am I even dating anyone. But being a wedding planner I’ve pretty much already determined what my entire wedding is going to look like. It’s inevitable… I see pretty things all the time and think “Oh, I’ve got to have that.”

I think guest welcome bags are always a fun idea… I love the idea of filling up a LL Bean boat & tote bag with some local goodies. The bag in the image below is from Martha Stewart Weddings, if you follow the link below it will take you to details on the bag.

I love these table ‘numbers’.

The other day my friend was telling me that she was trying to explain me to her new boyfriend. She told me that she told him I was basically Liz Lemon, which I consider to be a compliment of the highest degree.

For example, the other day at work I was busy and distracted and walking through the halls very quickly. I walked straight into a wall so hard, I snorted. Yes, I snorted.

Many years ago, it must have been either middle school or high school, my dad and sisters and I were traveling back from Texas where we had been visiting my grandma.
We were going through the airport security when the TSA agent started freaking out at me. “Oh my God, it’s Kimmy Gibbler! Oh my God!” He got all his coworkers to come look at me. Suffice it to say, I was mortified. I have never heard the end of it from my sisters.
I hoped and prayed that this would never happen. Fast forward a few years to sophomore year of college. I was in Venezuela with my church on a missions project. We met a bunch of the local Venezuelans that we would be serving with. Then it happened. “KEEEEMMYY!! KEEEMMYY GEEBLER!!!” You’d think in Venezuela I’d be safe, no? No.

What’s better than Mexican and Margaritas on a hot summer night?

If you are in the DC area, Cactus Cantina is the place to go for good Mexican.

A few years ago my dad, sister and I loaded up in the car to catch a Nationals baseball game. Once a year the Nationals have a Take Your Dog to the Game Day, where everyone brings their dog to the park. Wanting to mess with my dad, I told him that I just remembered that tonight was Take Your Cat to the Game Day. My sister played along when my dad looked doubting, he thought a minute then stopped the car. “Well we better go back and get Sampson quick then!”
Obviously, there is no such thing as Take Your Cat to the Game Day. Can you imagine thousands of squirming cats sitting on their owner’s laps at a hot summer baseball game? Can you see them getting loose on the baseball field?

I’m out of the office, er country for the next week on a boat, a large boat, much bigger than the one below. I’m on a cruise with two college girlfriends but have a few posts scheduled to pop up throughout the week. I will be checking in mid week because I do have an exciting announcement to make.

My dad and step-mom and dear friend Patricia on the boat. J.Crew ad, no? An yes, I took my iPhone in the water.

I brewed about 45 gallons of iced coffee concentrate the other day… I’ll have coffee concentrate till approximately May 2013. What’s better in the summer than ice-cold home-brewed coffee in a mason jar? Two of my favorite recipes here and here.

I made baked eggs this morning, and it was quite possibly one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. And one of the simplest to make.

They are super simple to make: 2 whole eggs or 3 egg whites (in a mini ramekin) + some sour cream + swiss cheese + freshly grated garlic + kosher salt + freshly ground black pepper. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes until the whites are set and it is starting to bubble. You can make all kinds of variations, add herbs, different kinds of cheeses. Later this week I am going to try it with homemade pasta sauce.

Here are a few of my current favorite fonts:
1. Ecolier
2. Two By Four
3. FG Jasmine
4. Joanne
5. Parisian
6. FFF Tusi
7. MA Sexy
8. Ostich
Is it possible to have an addiction to downloading fonts? It’s beginning to be a real problem.

Just a quick note in case you didn’t notice the blog has been rerouted to thejuliedaniel.com. Ideally I would have like to buy juliedaniel.com, but as you can see that is not an option. Juliedanieldesign.wordpress.com and juliedanieldesign.com will still get you to the site, it was just time to drop the ‘design’.
Enjoy!
