I’ve mentioned before that I’m a fan of Blik’s product’s. I’ve been wanting to buy a bed for a while now but not really wanting to invest in one in case I meet a guy and he’s not really into a white wrought iron bed or a tufted headboard like I want, soooo for the time being I’ve settled on one of Blik’s wall decals. I ordered their Olivia headboard in white. It was a hard decision because my walls are so pale yellow and I’m concerned about it not showing up enough against the yellow.

I just got it in the mail and I haven’t even had a chance to open it. I’m actually waiting to put it up because I just rearranged my room and I want to make sure that the new arrangement is how I really want to keep it because once I put the headboard up I don’t want to have to move it (even though they are apparently easy to take down and put up again).
Once I get it up I will take photos and post :)

My step-mom bought me a chaise longue at an estate sale. She said she thought it would go great it a baby’s nursery. Hint hint.

I like it because it just seems so very french to lounge by the window. Someday I would love to have a boudoir… basically just a massively huge closet/ dressing room/ ladies lounge where I can have a chaise. But what woman wouldn’t want that, right?

I’m way behind on my magazine reading and I’m just now reading the October issue of House Beautiful. One of the very first ads in it was this gorgeous photo from Restoration Hardware:

The couch is what initially caught my eye but I love everything about it; the chandeliers, the placement of the artwork on the walls… in the magazine they have it darkened a bit so it looks a bit cozier. It’s not too feminine and not too masculine. Loves it.

And for a cool $10,995-14,695 this puppy could be yours! I can’t imagine every living in a house that would have a room large enough to accommodate that couch but lawcy mercy I lurve it.

I was recently in Baltimore for the Association of Bridal Consultants annual conference- we stayed at The Tremont Grand Hotel. It was a beautiful hotel which was actually slated for demolition a few years back. It was originally built as a Masonic temple in the 1800′s and there is a lot of the original architecture left. I snapped a ton of iPhone pics…. by far the most impressive space was the ladies lounge.

Beautiful, right?

With each year I’m becoming more and more of a lover of Fall. I used to dread it before because it meant cold weather was just around the corner. I’ve really been trying to live in the moment and it’s really helped me to enjoy the beauty of Fall. You can feel it coming in the air here in Virginia in early September and then one day it’s just here.
I’ve been wanting to pick up a few pumpkins for my front porch and was lured in by the beautiful ones they had at Whole Foods. The one on the right is the most beautiful blue gray color unlike anything I’ve ever seen on a pumpkin.

I’ve mentioned it before that I love the set design in just about any Nancy Meyers film. The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give, Parent Trap, Father of the Bride. They are also so totally Americana, comfy, homey, elegant and beautiful in their own way.
It’s complicated has one of my favorite kitchens- many elements I’d like to see in my dream kitchen. It was designed by set designer Beth Rubino and I luuurve it.
How do I love this kitchen? Let me count the ways:
Black steel framed windows. Marble counters. Open shelving. Hanging pot racks. Woven roman shades. Butcher block island. That stove. The deep sink. Ok, it is my dream kitchen.

Here are a few more photos from the rest of the house:

Labor day weekend my family went to my favorite place on earth, Kiawah Island, South Carolina. We’ve been going to the beach there for years. It’s ruined me for all other beaches, there is nothing quite like Kiawah.
A few years ago, probably closer to 10 now, they announced they were building a resort on the island. We were not happy… Kiawah is a very local island… it’s private and you have to go through a gate to get on it. Back when my step-grandparents started going to Kiawah you used to have a key to open the gate and there were wild horses and boars than ran over the island. Much of it is developed now. Anyways, we were nervous about a resort coming to the island… I know my step-grandmother was especially worried about the inevitable influx of yankees. She got over it. The Sanctuary is beautiful. And not cheap… $650 a night for the cheapest room (we did not stay there, for obvious reasons). Usually we rent a beach house but since we were just there for a long weekend we just rented a condo overlooking a lagoon.
The Sanctuary is absolutely beautiful… southern elegance at it’s finest. I love everything about it.
So many photos so here they are in a gallery… click the photo to view it larger. The hotel looking ones are obviously the sanctuary. Included in the gallery are pictures of my sister’s 30th birthday that we celebrated while we were down there, and us at the beach house we normally stay at.

Well, not so much of a review. I bought Design*Sponge’s new book and I like it. It’s purdy.

I haven’t had a minute to really look at it… I’m waiting till I have an hour or two free because I know I’m going to want to read the whole thing cover to cover.
