Blik Headboard Update

I wrote here how I ordered Blik’s Olivia “headboard”.  It’s been an insanely busy winter so it took a few weeks to even take it out of the package and temporarily tack it up on the wall to make sure I place it in the right spot.  It had been hanging on the wall like this for at least a week.  I can’t decide if I like it because I’m too lazy/ busy/ scared to remove it from the backing and stick it to the wall or I really like the blue- I think it adds some needed depth/ color.

Henry wanted to help.

Anyways, this morning I finally got around to peeling it off the backing and sticking it to wall.  It did not…. go well.  It really is a two person job.  It was like saran wrap when it starts sticking to itself.

STOP.  GO GET ANOTHER PERSON TO HELP YOU.  WAIT.  THERE IS NO ONE ELSE BUT THESE SUCKERS.

They weren’t much of a help.

FRUSTRATION.

I DON’T NEED A MAN TO HANG THIS FAKE HEADBOARD, DANGIT.

Voila.  Not too great.

Verdict:  It looks great from far away but up close you can see all the crinkles and air pockets and wear I ripped it in some places and wear hair accidentally got stuck in it.  It wasn’t pretty.  But darn it all I put it up myself.  I think there products really could be great, you just need two people for these larger things.

Blik Headboard

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a fan of Blik’s product’s. I’ve been wanting to buy a bed for a while now but not really wanting to invest in one in case I meet a guy and he’s not really into a white wrought iron bed or a tufted headboard like I want, soooo for the time being I’ve settled on one of Blik’s wall decals.  I ordered their Olivia headboard in white.  It was a hard decision because my walls are so pale yellow and I’m concerned about it not showing up enough against the yellow.

I just got it in the mail and I haven’t even had a chance to open it.  I’m actually waiting to put it up because I just rearranged my room and I want to make sure that the new arrangement is how I really want to keep it because once I put the headboard up I don’t want to have to move it (even though they are apparently easy to take down and put up again).

Once I get it up I will take photos and post :)

Chaise Longue

My step-mom bought me a chaise longue at an estate sale.  She said she thought it would go great it a baby’s nursery.  Hint hint.

I like it because it just seems so very french to lounge by the window.  Someday I would love to have a boudoir… basically just a massively huge closet/ dressing room/ ladies lounge where I can have a chaise.  But what woman wouldn’t want that, right?

Ceiling Curtain

I live in a 3-bedroom townhouse, in which I have the master and my two roomates occupy the other two rooms.  Someday I will have the luxury of having a separate bedroom and office but for now, they are one and the same.  I want to give some separation to the two spaces so I’m thinking of hanging a curtain between my bed and desk area.  A few minutes of google research yielded me a curtain track, similar to what they use in ERs to separate the rooms.

So, $28.00 plus the hooks to hang from the tracks  ($9.00) + a cheap pair of IKEA curtains = defined workspace!

Navy Blue… Yes Please

I really love some of the spaces that were featured in December 2008′s Domino Mag (yes, I just got it in the mail).

These photos below are from the apartment of Domino Contributing Editor Nathan Turner.  I love his whole apartment.

Navy Blue is my all time favorite color.  I would kill for that bed- I am dying for a canopy or a bed with posts of some sort.

Sisal Rugs are another favorite thing of mine.

Have I mentioned I like navy blue?

I love how the dark curtain rod stands out against the blue walls.  So crisp and clean.

Putting It All Together: Ikea Bedroom

What could be better than a whole room with everything from Ikea?

My housemate just bought this lovely dresser from Ikea.  The Hemnes Chest With 8 Drawers is a lot larger than it looks in the picture.

I think this Inger fabric would look absolutely lovely next to the dresser.  The more I look at it the more I love it:

Add in a little curtain rod- nothing too fancy cause we want the attention on the lovely curtains.  Skuggig from Ikea:

And a bed of course for the bedroom, Sorum:

A touch of color on the walls, Benjamin Moore Delano Waters 766:

And last but not least, how about a rug: Bettan Linge

That’s about it for now, I may just add some more in the morning…

Enjoy!

The Master Bedrooom should evoke a feeling of romance.  Avoid pictures of your kids staring at you while you are in bed.  I like Antra from Ikea:

My Dream House Part 2

I mentioned in my last post how much I dislike carpet.  Maybe it is just the generic beige carpet that I have had in my rentals the past few years.  I feel like you can never keep it clean.

In my dream house I’d like to have hardwood thoughout… a wide, wide plank in a dark finish.  I really love bamboo floors:

But I’d like a darker finish, closer to this color:

I’d only consider carpet if it were berber.

Here are some rugs you might see in my house:

And this Daisy Garden Rug from Pottery Barn Kids for a little girls room:
