This Weekend’s Wedding

Here are a few pics from this weekend’s wedding.  I was not involved in any of the planning or design, I just stopped by to snap a few photos for the company.  It’s beautiful so enjoy!

Venue: Westwood Country Club, Vienna, Virginia

Vintage Navy Wedding

Here are a few pics I snapped from a wedding our company did the other week.  Lynn Nelson was the planner and I was the assistant planner.  The venue was the Thomas Birkby House in Leesburg, Virginia.

I absolutely love hydrangeas… the last picture is a bunch of them that I was able to snag and take home at the end.  The wedding was absolutely lovely… totally my wedding colors, Navy and Ivory.

The favors were s’mores…. matches, a graham cracker and some chocolate… how cute?

Nautical Themed Wedding

If I had to pick my wedding colors right now, they would be navy blue and seersucker.  And yes, I realize seersucker is not a color, but a type of fabric.  And no, I am not engaged, nor am I even dating anyone.  But being a wedding planner I’ve pretty much already determined what my entire wedding is going to look like.  It’s inevitable…  I see pretty things all the time and think “Oh, I’ve got to have that.”

I think guest welcome bags are always a fun idea… I love the idea of filling up a LL Bean boat & tote bag with some local goodies.  The bag in the image below is from Martha Stewart Weddings, if you follow the link below it will take you to details on the bag.

I love these table ‘numbers’.

Pretty in Pink

A few photos from last weekend’s wedding.  I was assistant coordinator, and the metal folding chairs were not my idea.

It’s amazing how pipe & drape and some good lighting can transform a room… would you believe this is a Knights of Columbus hall?

I’m not sure I’m a fan of the eggs in these, but they can easily be left out…

BHLDN Ripoff Idea

I’m working on a coral + grey inspiration board for a October wedding so I was searching the BHLDN website for ideas.  It’s a farm wedding so I thought these totally fit with the theme.  But $14… no way.  I’m not a crafty person, but you could totally make these on the cheap by yourself.  Candles from target plus some branches from your backyard = totally cute.

Black, White & Pink Wedding Inspiration

Here is an inspiration board I made for an upcoming bride:

Ok I guess there’s not a ton of pink in it, but you get the picture :)

More Table Design Contest Photos

Here are some professional photos taken of my table at the ABC Virginia State Meeting (here is the original post for more information on that meeting).  They were taken by the talented Pamela Lepold from Weddings By Pamela.  Give her a call if you are in the market for a wedding day photographer!

Table Design Contest

This weekend I participated in a table design contest at the Virginia Association of Bridal Consultants annual meeting.  I didn’t know until a week before whether or not I was going to actually be able to go to the meeting so I held off on working on my table till the last minute.  I think it still came out ok though!

A while back I saw (I think on The Knot) a table from a wedding reception where they had individual cakes as the centerpieces.  I loved that idea and I had been wanting to do it for a while.  Plus, that meant I could by the cake stand I had wanted for a long time and write it off as a business expense!

If I had more time I would have called around to get someone to donate some pretty china and glassware for the table.  I liked what the hotel was able to provide though (the Sheraton Reston); I think it didn’t overpower the pretty centerpiece.

The beautiful flowers were donated by Shelley at Shelley’s Floral Enterprise.  There were gorgeous and everyone loved the idea of having flowers around the base of the cake plate!  The pink table cloth was donated by Gala Cloths.  I made the cookie favors but I forgot to snap a close up picture of them- they actually had names written on them (so they acted as the place cards and the favors).

I made the cake myself, if I wanted to I could have found someone to donate a cake, but I really wanted to test drive my new pastry bag and try this new frosting recipe.  {It was delicious, but VERY rich!}.

So I thought it would be a fun idea to put the table number on the cake with icing.  It was, but the butter cream frosting and the icing I used to write the number warmed up after being out of the fridge and by the end of they day the red icing was running down the sides and it looking like blood.  Not cute.

Here are a few pics of the other tables that competed in the table design contest:

As soon as I saw all the tables I totally thought this table was going to win (below):

This table (below) was the winner… what do you think of it?

And lastly here are some pictures of the tables we sat at for the meeting, I’m not sure who designed them, when I find out I will let you know!

I LOVED the pattern on the napkins… I heard a rumor that they were from BBJ linens, I’ll confirm that when I can.  UPDATE:  They are from BBJ… I found them here.
