Friday Five

Happy Friday!  Here’s what’s making my heart happy this week.

Sweater Capes– I have been searching high and low for a sweater cape and have had no luck…. until I spotted this puppy on  The unfortunate thing is it is only available in plus size at the moment.  Target, please restock a size medium!

PowerSheets– Do y’all know Lara Casey?  She is the Editor in Chief of Southern Weddings Magazine and founder of Making Things Happen among other things.  It’s actually on my life to do list to attend her Making Things Happen conference.  Anyways, I digress… PowerSheets come are a package of sheets that help you think through and write down your goals- life, year, month, daily goals.  I am a creative/ planner/ list maker type of gal, and if you are like me you know we have a gazillion things running through our heads.  PowerSheets have really helped me focus on goals and separate to dos from longer term plans for life.  Big fan of PowerSheets and Lara Casey.

Ben Franklin– This summer I fostered the sweetest little Maltese dog who had been severely neglected- he had lived his whole life outside in a mud pit with a heavy chain around his neck.  He had to fight big dogs to get any food.  It makes me so sad to think about.  He has now been adopted, now named Bentley.  His after photo makes me so happy!  Next time you are thinking about getting a dog or cat please check with your local pound or rescue.  And pretty please, spay/ neuter your animal and make sure he is micro chipped and has ID on at all times.

Before.  His hair was so matted around his eyes he couldn’t see.

At the pound in South Carolina, now named Ben Franklin.  This is what he looked like when I got him.  It took me two days to cut all the clumps of dirt out of his hair.  Poor guy.

After- Bentley!  He looks like a different dog!

Bangs- I’ve been going back and forth for months over whether to get bangs or not (why is this such a hard decision for women?).  I saw this picture of textile designer Caitlin Wilson in April’s House Beautiful and I knew I had to take the plunge and get some Zooey Deschanel-esque bangs.  I’m getting my hair cut next week, I’ll keep you all updated!

Other bang ideas- I could go with a Tina Fey or Carole Middleton look, a little less dramatic than the straight across look.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser– Love this stuff!  It smells great (and tastes great if you get a little in your mouth on accident).
