What I’m Loving Right Now

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Best Of post, so here are a few things I’m loving right now:

Shoes I’m loving right now:

Jack Rogers Marbella Sandal

Seychelles Impatient Boot

I don’t own this, but I want it. Bad. It’s such a grown up girl purse, and I feel at 30 years old it’s about time for me to graduate from Old Navy to grown up girl purses, right?

Tory Burch York Buckle Tote

The two items of makeup I wear everyday (and usually the only makeup items I wear):

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara

-Basically anything from Page 6, including this cute Emma top

-Jess Lively’s Intention Tattoos. When I catch myself staring at my phone when I’m with other people, I remind myself to be present. I turn my phone over so I’m not tempted to look at it every 2.5 seconds. It’s a daily habit to practice being present and mindfulness, and I think these intention tattoos are a great reminder. (Image taken from here.)

Just a reminder, I won’t be posting about interior design on this blog anymore. Anything interiors related will be on juliedanieldesign.com.

That’s all for now!

Hey world-

Gosh it was a rough semester–4 grad classes is a LOT to handle. I’ve basically taken the month of December to recover. I didn’t want to let the month pass without a single post though, so here’s what I’ve been loving lately:

Ayres Body Butter. It smells and feels amazing. Another Birchbox find.

SJP Alyssa Peep Toe Booties– Sarah Jessica Parker recently launched a shoe line and came to town the other month to sign items from the line (yes, she signed the bottom of shoes). Being a very poor grad student, I do not own any over her shoes (I believe they are manufactured by Manolo Blahnik)–i.e., they are fairly expensive.

This woman actually curtsied to SJP (as would I, if I had gotten to meet her).

I went to her shoe signing at Nordies not expecting to meet her since I wasn’t going to be purchasing anything, and I didn’t get to meet her. But y’all, when she was leaving she walked right by me, so close I could have reached out and grabbed her. Thankfully I had my senses and didn’t, but oh my it was exciting. Like any red blooded American girl, Sex and the City is my jam and taught me everything about love and relationships I did not (surprise surprise) learn growing up in a conservative Evangelical home. So imagine me, sharpie in one hand, pink velvet Sex and the City complete series in the other, sweating profusely while standing practically in the middle of a clothing rack, and SJP walking by and me thinking “if I wanted to, I could jump on you and hug you.” Instead I chose to stare like a deer in headlights and just whisper “I love you.”

Julie the #Creeper

Hi, friend. Can I hug you?

Major creeper, I know. Anyways, the point it… several women that night were wearing these peep toe booties, and gosh darnit, I NEED them. Doubtful that I will ever own them anytime soon though, but a girl can dream.

This pore refiner by Dr. Brandt, found on Ipsy. It’s the smoothest stuff you will ever put on your face, and has a little tint in it, which is good enough to count as a full face of makeup for me. I spend probably 3 minutes on makeup in the morning, so something that moisturizes, refines and covers blemishes gets two thumbs up in my book.

Make it Happen– Lara Casey just published her first book–as in it came out today. I just got it in the mail a few hours ago and am only a few pages in so I can’t give a full critique, but man do I love her. I am a huge LC goupie, and anything she puts her name on I am down to buy. Looking foward to digging in to it. Her powersheets have really helped me with goal setting and separating the daily to dos from long term goals.

I heard this quote by Shauna Niequist while listening to Around the Table Podcast (which is another thing I am loving), and this quote really struck a chord with me. I’m looking forward to reading some of her books. (By the way, I just got into the Kindle world, and oh my is it life changing–I know I’m about 5 years late to the party).

This chili recipe. My stepmom made it the other day, and oh my is it good. Surrriously.

The complete novels of Jane Austen, which Santa so thoughtfully purchased for me off of my Amazon wishlist for Christmas.

This documentary on the Architecture studio, which has a lot of parallels with the interior design studio process.

These Bean boots. Totally not necessary for Virginia winters, but they’re cute.

That’s all for now…. follow along on Twitter or Pinterest to see what else I am loving.

BestOfLogoHey all!

Here’s what I’m loving this week–going to share it in non-collage format. Makes it a little more straightforward to comment on each thing:

Joan’s Corn Toaster Muffins– The other day at Whole Foods I met Joan herself, who was handing out samples of her gluten free toaster muffins. I was about to say no immediately upon hearing the words ‘gluten free’, because I love me my gluten, y’all. I’m naturally a little wary of gluten free products, but YUM these are good corn muffins.  I ended up buying a pack, and they don’t disappoint. Not a paid advertisement, I just really liked them! And I love supporting a woman-owned, small business!

Clear Clinic Laboratories Vanished Clear Spot Treatment– The other day when out to drinks with a friend at a dimly lit restaurant, she let me know I had something on my face, food she thought. T’was actually a big fat zit, thanks for pointing that out. I have to admit, taking off my makeup at the end of the day and properly moisturizing/ tonerizing it (I know I made that word up), is such a drag, so sometimes I just do the bare minimum and end up zitty.  I like this spot treatment, it’s better than any I’ve tried so far. I found out about it through my Ipsy membership. I’m finding that with each monthly box, both Ipsy and Birchbox, I find one product I really love, which makes it worth it to keep up the subscriptions even though I have beauty samples coming out my ears. Again, not getting any money for plugging this (or any product on here).

Jack Rogers Wedges– I saw a girl wearing a similar pair of Jack Rogers wedges the other day, and gosh darn it they were cute. Definitely going on my wish list.

Gap Ultra Skinny Pants– These pants are my jam, y’all. I heard about them from Nicole at Making it Lovely, and man are they a great pair of pants. Just an overall great fit, and I always get tons of compliments when I wear them. Great wardrobe basic.

My sister has a new foster dog, Bagel. If you live in the Los Angeles area and are interested in adopting him, check out his profile page. Here is a cute video she put together of him!

Have a great Thursday, all!

Happy Tuesday!  Here’s what I’m loving this week:

City Gold White Gold Shadow and Highlight Mousse– I find having to apply eye shadow with a brush a total chore, so I like that I can apply this with my finger (although you probably are supposed to use a brush, but I’m a rule breaker).  This eye shadow is really light and fluffy so it’s fun to apply.  I found it through my Ipsy subscription.  (I love a good subscription, I get Birchbox as well.)

Flavor Paper Wallpaper– Funky, fun wallpaper.  Check them out.

Iced Coffee– I use The Pioneer Woman’s recipe, except I use espresso beans to make it a latte.  They have been my lifeblood this summer.  I also half the recipe and use 1/2 pound of beans and 8 quarts to make it a little less unwieldy to make (more wieldy?).

Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer– Another Ipsy find.  It gives your skin a shimmery glow.  Two thumbs up.

Madewell Transport Tote– I do not own this, but I would like to.  Love a good tote.

That’s all for this week.  Check out my latest post on The DC Ladies and say hi on Twitter.  Have a good one!
