What I’m Loving Right Now

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Best Of post, so here are a few things I’m loving right now:

Shoes I’m loving right now:

Jack Rogers Marbella Sandal

Seychelles Impatient Boot

I don’t own this, but I want it. Bad. It’s such a grown up girl purse, and I feel at 30 years old it’s about time for me to graduate from Old Navy to grown up girl purses, right?

Tory Burch York Buckle Tote

The two items of makeup I wear everyday (and usually the only makeup items I wear):

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara

-Basically anything from Page 6, including this cute Emma top

-Jess Lively’s Intention Tattoos. When I catch myself staring at my phone when I’m with other people, I remind myself to be present. I turn my phone over so I’m not tempted to look at it every 2.5 seconds. It’s a daily habit to practice being present and mindfulness, and I think these intention tattoos are a great reminder. (Image taken from here.)

Just a reminder, I won’t be posting about interior design on this blog anymore. Anything interiors related will be on juliedanieldesign.com.

That’s all for now!

BestOfLogoHey all!

Here’s what I’m loving this week–going to share it in non-collage format. Makes it a little more straightforward to comment on each thing:

Joan’s Corn Toaster Muffins– The other day at Whole Foods I met Joan herself, who was handing out samples of her gluten free toaster muffins. I was about to say no immediately upon hearing the words ‘gluten free’, because I love me my gluten, y’all. I’m naturally a little wary of gluten free products, but YUM these are good corn muffins.  I ended up buying a pack, and they don’t disappoint. Not a paid advertisement, I just really liked them! And I love supporting a woman-owned, small business!

Clear Clinic Laboratories Vanished Clear Spot Treatment– The other day when out to drinks with a friend at a dimly lit restaurant, she let me know I had something on my face, food she thought. T’was actually a big fat zit, thanks for pointing that out. I have to admit, taking off my makeup at the end of the day and properly moisturizing/ tonerizing it (I know I made that word up), is such a drag, so sometimes I just do the bare minimum and end up zitty.  I like this spot treatment, it’s better than any I’ve tried so far. I found out about it through my Ipsy membership. I’m finding that with each monthly box, both Ipsy and Birchbox, I find one product I really love, which makes it worth it to keep up the subscriptions even though I have beauty samples coming out my ears. Again, not getting any money for plugging this (or any product on here).

Jack Rogers Wedges– I saw a girl wearing a similar pair of Jack Rogers wedges the other day, and gosh darn it they were cute. Definitely going on my wish list.

Gap Ultra Skinny Pants– These pants are my jam, y’all. I heard about them from Nicole at Making it Lovely, and man are they a great pair of pants. Just an overall great fit, and I always get tons of compliments when I wear them. Great wardrobe basic.

My sister has a new foster dog, Bagel. If you live in the Los Angeles area and are interested in adopting him, check out his profile page. Here is a cute video she put together of him!

Have a great Thursday, all!

Happy Tuesday!  Here’s what I’m loving this week:

City Gold White Gold Shadow and Highlight Mousse– I find having to apply eye shadow with a brush a total chore, so I like that I can apply this with my finger (although you probably are supposed to use a brush, but I’m a rule breaker).  This eye shadow is really light and fluffy so it’s fun to apply.  I found it through my Ipsy subscription.  (I love a good subscription, I get Birchbox as well.)

Flavor Paper Wallpaper– Funky, fun wallpaper.  Check them out.

Iced Coffee– I use The Pioneer Woman’s recipe, except I use espresso beans to make it a latte.  They have been my lifeblood this summer.  I also half the recipe and use 1/2 pound of beans and 8 quarts to make it a little less unwieldy to make (more wieldy?).

Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer– Another Ipsy find.  It gives your skin a shimmery glow.  Two thumbs up.

Madewell Transport Tote– I do not own this, but I would like to.  Love a good tote.

That’s all for this week.  Check out my latest post on The DC Ladies and say hi on Twitter.  Have a good one!

Here’s what I’m loving this week:

East Coasters by Reed Wilson Design- Etsy & Nordstrom have started a partnership, and there is nothing about this I don’t love. Nordstrom? Love it, please scatter my ashes in the Tysons location. Etsy? Support independent artists? Yes, please!  In addition to East Coasters, they have North, West, and Gulf Coasters.

Gold Bobby Pins from H&M– Since pretty much the day I got bangs last fall (aka the biggest mistake of 2013), I have been trying to grow them out.  I love these bright gold bobby pins to hold my hair back- they are prettier than the normal brown ones you get at the drug store.

Råskog kitchen cart from IKEA- I use it as my bedside table.  What I love about it: the beautiful blue/ green color, the fact that there are no drawers so it can’t turn into a dumping ground for junk- everything is out in the open so I have to keep it tidy.  I love the utilitarian look, it is a nice contrast next to the softness of fabric on a bed.  I think it’s a handy little cart that could work in the bedroom, kitchen, laundry room, etc.

In with the Old: Classic Decor from A to Z– I love this encyclopedia of decorative accessories and furniture.  It’s my new bedtime reading.

There’s a Colonial Woman on the Wing T-shirt– This is my most popular pin on Pinterest.  If you don’t know what this is referring to, I’m sorry.

Also, not pictured, but this lovely Florida home by the fabulous Ashley Whittaker.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Friday! Here’s what I’m loving this week:

I bought this dress in black from H&M last month and I’ve worn it once a week since I got it.  It’s super comfy and best of all, it’s only $18.

This picture was not taken this week, but I came across a blog post of a collection of Bush 41’s socks, and whenever I see him with his crazy socks it makes me happy.

I loved this dress on Kim Kardashian this week.  Yes, it was a little too booby, but I am a sucker for a full-skirted dress.

This photo makes me nostalgic.  Time for a SATC marathon.

I ran across this post on Tumblr this week.  Does anyone else remember this book from childhood?  I remember it scaring the bejebus out of me.

The plethora or Leo Oscar posts still are making me smile.

The Real Housewives of New York City is back on. #TurtleTime

Last but not least, check out my latest post on The DC Ladies.  Have a good weekend!

Happy Friday!  I have been light on posting lately because my Office Design class has been consuming all of my free time.  I presented the design portion of it last night, now for the rest of the semester we are going to be doing the nitty gritty part building it and making construction documents, so that’s going to be all kinds of fun.  So here’s hoping I can get caught up on life before things get crazy again soon.

Here’s what I’m loving this week:

There is a petition to The White House to make MLB Opening Day an National Holiday.  Consider signing, friends.

This quote by Candice Bergen, and Making It Lovely in general.

Hipster Will & Kate. Ha. Love this.

Illy Issimo Latte Macchiatos.  These are currently my jam.  They are a great grab and go drink when I’m running late and don’t have time to stop at Starbucks.  (But what the heck is cellulose gum carrageen?)

US_lattemacchiatoThis Marianne Williamson quote.  “Your playing small does not serve the world.”

mariannewilliamson{I made this, please credit me if you would like to use it elsewhere.  Emphasis mine in the quote.}

And last but not least, this.

PS- Check out my latest post on The DC Ladies, about Room in a Box design services.

PPS- Let’s connect on twitter.  Let me know you are a blog reader (I don’t necessarily follow back everyone).

PPPS- Do you find the text hard to read with this new blog lay out?  Let me know if it’s too small or too light.

Before I jump on in, I just want to say, A very Happy Anna Howard Shaw Day to us all!

Here’s what I’m loving this week….

This dress the FLOTUS wore to this week’s White House State Dinner is probably my favorite look on her of all time.  I think she has impeccable taste, and this Carolina Herrera gown is jaw dropping.

Stila Long Wear Lip Color.  This is one of my favorite lip sticks- it really does last a long time.

Mèreadesso All-In-One Moisturizer– I got this as a sample from Birchbox, and I really love it…. but $120?  I probably won’t be able to afford the full size product for a long time.

Design Roundup: Wallpapered Bathrooms

If you haven’t discovered Houzz yet, do your self a favor and don’t read this post.  Don’t click on any of the links.  Houzz is a beautiful, soul-sucking creature; one minute you are looking for an example of a kitchen with carerra marble, the next, it’s 8 hours later and you are still on Houzz because it’s just that consuming.  Chances are, if you read my blog you are probably a design-minded person like myself and it’s too late.  I’m sorry.

A Facebook friend posted a picture of a bathroom they liked the other day, they didn’t post where it came from and I was curious to know who the designer was and see some other pictures of the space.  A quick google reverse image search lead me to Houzz, of course.  Which lead me to pictures of other pretty bathrooms, which lead to an idea of a design roundup of wallpapered bathrooms.  So here ya go… if you are thinking about trying out wallpaper, but the thought of it kinda frightens you (it frightens me too), start with somewhere small like a powder room.

(I can’t get any space to stick between the photos and it’s kind of driving me crazy.  Oh wait, you didn’t notice, but now you do?  I had this post all ready to go Sunday night but every time I try and mess with the formatting I make it worse.)  Enjoy!  Happy Monday!

Happy Friday!  It’s 48 degrees here in Northern Virginia today which feels like a tropical paradise compared to the weather we’ve been having.  And it’s nice and sunny… take that S.A.D.!  Here’s what I’m loving this week (and by the way, products I talk about are really, truly products I use and love, not getting paid for anything here):

1. Southern Livings’s 10 Tips for Building the Quintessential Southern Home.  I love the first tip “Thou Shalt Build Smaller.”  It reminds me of Sarah Susanka’s book “The Not So Big House” which I’ve written about before here.  Let’s say NO to massive developments where all the trees are torn down and the massive houses look like “storage containers for people” as Susanka calls them.

2. Jane Krakowski’s haircut (and Jane Krakowski in general).  I cut off six inches of hair last week and gave this picture to my hair stylist, now I pretty much look like this (I wish).  While we’re at it, lakes take a moment to relive some best-of Jenna Maroney moments on 30 Rock (and please tell me HOW she never won an Emmy for that character?!).

3. Moso bags– I love these air fresheners because they suck the bad smells out of the air rather than emitting a fragrance.  Plus they are all natural.  Great for people like me who have two stinky dogs running around the house.  I also keep one in my car.

4. Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil.  This goes on really smooth, and any product that let’s me skip having to use a brush to use eye shadow gets two thumbs up from me.

That’s all for this week!

PS- DC area design folks, I will be here, looks like it will be a great talk.
