Fall Winery Wedding

I coordinated a wedding recently in Virginia’s beautiful wine country.  Here are a few iPhone shots from the day…

A cat lives on the property of the winery and found his way into the reception… I had to yank him off the barrel before he pawed at the cake.  Reason # 2,476 to hire a wedding planner.

Fall Wedding Inspiration

Here are some photos I snapped of a table I designed for a bridal show at Airlie Conference Center in Warrenton, Virginia.  The table.  By the way, Airlie is an absolutely beautiful venue if you are looking for a reception or ceremony location.  It was a soft fall theme with colors of peach, yellow and green.  The floral centerpieces were done in gourds and made by the lovely Shelley of Shelley’s Floral Enterprise.  The linens were donated by Gala Cloths.  Please disregard that I have the soup spoon and tea spoon in the wrong order.  I think it just looks better that way.

Ok I guess there’s not a ton of pink in it, but you get the picture :)

More Table Design Contest Photos

Here are some professional photos taken of my table at the ABC Virginia State Meeting (here is the original post for more information on that meeting).  They were taken by the talented Pamela Lepold from Weddings By Pamela.  Give her a call if you are in the market for a wedding day photographer!

Table Design Contest

This weekend I participated in a table design contest at the Virginia Association of Bridal Consultants annual meeting.  I didn’t know until a week before whether or not I was going to actually be able to go to the meeting so I held off on working on my table till the last minute.  I think it still came out ok though!

A while back I saw (I think on The Knot) a table from a wedding reception where they had individual cakes as the centerpieces.  I loved that idea and I had been wanting to do it for a while.  Plus, that meant I could by the cake stand I had wanted for a long time and write it off as a business expense!

If I had more time I would have called around to get someone to donate some pretty china and glassware for the table.  I liked what the hotel was able to provide though (the Sheraton Reston); I think it didn’t overpower the pretty centerpiece.

The beautiful flowers were donated by Shelley at Shelley’s Floral Enterprise.  There were gorgeous and everyone loved the idea of having flowers around the base of the cake plate!  The pink table cloth was donated by Gala Cloths.  I made the cookie favors but I forgot to snap a close up picture of them- they actually had names written on them (so they acted as the place cards and the favors).

I made the cake myself, if I wanted to I could have found someone to donate a cake, but I really wanted to test drive my new pastry bag and try this new frosting recipe.  {It was delicious, but VERY rich!}.

So I thought it would be a fun idea to put the table number on the cake with icing.  It was, but the butter cream frosting and the icing I used to write the number warmed up after being out of the fridge and by the end of they day the red icing was running down the sides and it looking like blood.  Not cute.

Here are a few pics of the other tables that competed in the table design contest:

As soon as I saw all the tables I totally thought this table was going to win (below):

This table (below) was the winner… what do you think of it?

And lastly here are some pictures of the tables we sat at for the meeting, I’m not sure who designed them, when I find out I will let you know!

I LOVED the pattern on the napkins… I heard a rumor that they were from BBJ linens, I’ll confirm that when I can.  UPDATE:  They are from BBJ… I found them here.

Tablescape Contest

I am designing a table for a table design contest at the Virginia Association of Bridal Consultants annual meeting.  Here is a sneak peak at what it will look like.  I will post a picture of the finished project on Saturday!

Office Re-Design Mood Board

Here is a mood board I designed for inspiration for a makeover for my office.  Wow that was a lot of ‘fors’.

I picked some calming colors to paint over our current mauvey/ peachy/ pinky beige color we currently have.

New Years Eve

For New Year’s Eve I volunteered to do the decorations for the cruise the young adult ministry at my church went on.  We had a very limited budget for flowers (we had to stay under $100) so we had to be creative.

Many thanks to Bergeron’s Flowers and Events in Springfield, VA for the flowers and the vases!

Aren’t they so pretty?  White rose petals floating in wate… classy and cheap!

It was so quick and easy to just pop the rose petals off…

My centerpieces in action…

Aren’t the tables pretty?  The cruise line provided all the linens and table settings, and besides the flowers, we just threw some of our cheap-o NYE party favors on the table.

And here is the chocolate fountain, where I spent 98% of the night… you think I am joking.  It wasn’t pretty.
